7-Zip on nopea ja tehokas tiedostonpakkausohjlema.
7-zipillä voi pakata tiedostoja 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 ja TAR formaateilla. Näiden lisäksi ohjelma ohjelma osaa purkaa ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, DMG, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MSI, NSIS, RAR, RPM, UDF, WIM, XAR ja Z muotoisia tiedostoja.
Ohjelma tukee usean ytimen suorittimia, joten tiedostojen pakkaaminen ja purkaminen on nopeaa ja hyödyntää uusimpienkin suorittimien potentiaalin. 7-zip lisää vaihtoehtoisesti pikakomennot Windowsin tiedostovalikkoihin, joten tiedostojen purkaminen sujuu vaivattomasti.
